The last time I saw her was in 1983...beraya di rumahnya. Since then we wrote each other once or twice (since both of us are not fond with sending letters...we didn't have emails at that time). Then after long lost years, got a call from an old friend....
"Someone wants to talk to you"
"Siapa?"
"Cakaplah sendiri"

After a brief conversation over the phone, she did find her way to the kedai.....she still looks the same (well almost), we hugged and she introduced her husband to me....The first thing she asked me ..."ARE YOU HAPPY?"

Bila lah nombor ni nak turun???

Finally!! after weeks without this pc, baru malam ni dapat semula mengadap internet...emails berlambak nak kena balas...facebook tu sekali sekala dapat gak pinjam laptop achik...tapi tak dapat nak surf banyak. Plus all my documents ada dalam pc ni.

Ok, back to the dieting game... so far turun sikit2. Eating habit dah banyak berubah..STILL not to the point you can see the drastic change. For the last and next few weeks, I'm handling the kedai alone. Ayah Teh needed some time off to teach his daughter...at least until SPM is over. Very tiring and very stressful. We lost one staff (susah orang banyak sangat personal problem) and we just hired a new one today...How I hate training new worker AGAIN! Though we are thankful for the endless workload, we still hope the staff can handle the work pressure.

So far, headaches dah kurang banyak...now (maybe because of the work condition), I dah kena bisa2 kaki (left leg) especially kat tumit....masa berdiri lama tak terasa sangat, tapi bila duduk baru rasa berdenyut2. Sakitnya kadang2 sampai ke pinggang. One of the girls pun kena sakit yang sama. I haven't been to the doctor yet to check... ada orang suggest cuba herbal medicine...will try first.

By the way, I'm really grateful Achik bought wii-fit. Both of us have started light workout.. and the fun part checking your progress. The excercise program and the games are so much fun especially when you have other family members join in. tak payah keluar rumah to do the walking or jogging.

Now...exercise dah ok sikit...what about food? Hmmmm... I need to force myself to PLAN my meals. Ada masa teragak nak prepare macam2...12 hours at work tak membantu sangat. By the time sampai rumah dah letih...this is my BIGGEST kelemahan..late dinner! Breakfast and lunch ok, time petang selalunya jadi lupa nak take something light, sebab time ni juga busy kedepan kebelakang melayan customers...sedar2 dah over the 4 hours limit...ishkkk!! rosak program...after lunch memang tak lapar langsung dan tak crave apa2 since bila sibuk, paling tidak pun minum plain water jer....ok MUST WORK on scheduling the mealtime

Sebelum terlupa...I want to congratulate all my nephews and nieces yang berjaya dalam UPSR tempoh hari.. First hurdle dah lepas..banyak lagi menunggu didepan... After this tak nak lah tengok numbers pada scale... Next weigh-in lepas sebulan haha!!

First Week - Adjusting

They say if you want to quit smoking, you have to do it cold turkey...same as dieting. Forget about wanting somebody to inspire you or giving reasons as to why you need to lose weight..JUST DO IT!! Of course before you set sail, the best is to get a medical advise and check-up first. Make sure your cholestrol level, sugar level, your vital statistic is in order...but for someone like me, I skip the whole process and just get on with it.

First week to me is more of trying to adjust and mainly trying to change my eating habit. I read a lot...internet has a lot to offer on diet info...how to count calories etc etc...and I also received emails from friends about their experience. After going through each one, I will try to work the diet with my own lifestyle. Ok here goes for the first week review.

WHAT I HAVE CHANGED (or need to change)
1. Eat my full breakfast instead of just a cup of coffee. I also take a cup of Air Halba (just a teaspoon of halba, rendam dalam one cup of hot water..bila dah suam baru minum) It helps to cleanse perut juga. Breakfast dah selesa dengan whole wheat bread (2 slices), makan dengan soup (either mushroom or low-cal creamy chicken soup. I just take a glass of plain water with that

2. I eat every 4 hours. Smaller portion. Memang dah biasa pun makan nasi sikit. But I need to work on preparing my own lunch since kedai sebelah tak banyak hidang lauk yang healthy...mostly fried, lemak, curry. I took fish yg jenis masak bening and vegetables...tapi vegetables dia orang suka goreng and masak lemak..tak banyak offer ulam2. I need to cut down on eating rice daily...soon!

3. In between meals...none... since I'm not a fan of chips...Dalam kedai ada lah crackers and cookies. Coffee, tea, air sirap semua ada...I take some crackers belah petang sikit.. I do drink a lot of liquid sebab memang cepat dahaga dengan kerja and work condition kat belah belakang ni. Now dah selesa dengan plain water saja instead of having sirap or even soft drinks.

4. So far I have not excercise properly. This I have to work on my next step. Kalau jalan ke depan ke belakang dalam kedai ni kira exercise ke?? Lifting the baskets and heavy items won't get my body in shape..menyakitkan badan ada la..haha!!

5. Eating late dinner....hmmmmm...ini nak kena tukar habit totally. But I cut on eating heavy meals.

WHAT DO I FEEL?
1. Headaches rasa kurang sikit.
2. Metabolic rate rasanya naik since lepas every meals mudah lawas.
3. I don't feel hungry in between meals. Even without the crackers pun tak berselera nak makan apa2.

WHAT I NEED TO WORK ON
1. Force myself to plan my meals...
2. Cardio workout...ada free instructors tak??

So pagi tadi dah timbang (oh! dia orang suggest cari digital scale) ...the scale stopped at 87kg...meaning 2kg dah gone...alhamdulillah..slowly but surely

Time To Get Serious

When you get to my age, everything seems to set in....the fat, the grey hair and the skin sensitivity to almost everything. Not to mention aches and pains after work (the back and the feet are killing me)... so it's time to do something about it...I only blame myself for dragging me to this stage...so it's my responsibility to get me out of this situation. My target is a week at a time. If you're with me and would like to share your ups and downs trying to lose weight and achieve the best health, please do so. I welcome your suggestions, your tips on the best possible way for me to reach my goal.

OK...here goes...
Currently the scales stop at 89kg

Eating habit..
A cup of coffee before going to work (around 7.30 am)
Then breakfast/brunch around 11 am (meal usually consist of a small portion of rice, fish...sometimes fried sometimes grilled and some vegetables... I seldom eat meat,
I ususally take another break around 3 pm or later...during this break I usually order some rice or noodles (fried or soup)
In between meals...sometimes some crackers but most of the time none... but I do drink a lot of liquid (plain water, soft drinks and fruit juices)
Dinner...always late (after 9 pm) ...sometimes rice, sometimes fast food
AND I seldom cook at home

I dont't like sweets or chocolates, but once in a bluemoon I do eat candy bars.
I don't snack on junk food or cookies
I like vegetables but I feel it's a waste stocking them at home since I'll be eating them alone

Current health condition...
I don't exercise (doing cardio or running) but I do walk a lot just because the nature of my job
I take pain killers and aspirin on regular basis now since I'm dealing with labor intensive job...plus the work condition is unavoidable
I get headaches easily and my skin itch badly especially when I started sweating.

My aim...
I want to lose weight safely
I don't want to spend money on weight lost supplements, diet pills, shakes etc
I don't mind investing time learning new things and above all I wish I could share my journey to be a better me

Salam to everybody,
Makin lama makin malas...correction..makin lama makin dah tak ada idea nak menulis..mind dah tepu dengan deadlines, baju2 for sure plus after raya orders yang dah tak sanggup nak buat. Sebelum raya bukan main berkobar2 nak trade kuih raya ngan Mak Long..konon2nya dia nak buatkan kuih tart dan Mjang pulak buatkan cheesecakes untuk dia...tiba raya, satu hapah tak buat..dapat bagi dia merasa cheesecake 1 tupperware kecik jer..itu pun kena share 1 family...dapatlah buat sikit cupcakes untuk rumah Nenek in Kelang and sikit untuk Tok Mak in Medoi and sikit lagi for Taman Tun...itupun buat cupcakes bidan terjun dari tingkat 5 huhu!! gambar nantilah mintak Achik load kan dari phone dia.

Raya tahun ni memang banyak travel...Raya eve kat Kelang, then balik Shah Alam...pagi raya di Kelang semula, then to Shah Alam & Taman Tun...petang balik ke Segamat..stay overnight, beraya kejap di sana then next day gi Jasin (a must on second syawal) ehem! ehem! syah in case you're reading this...menu best!!! Ikan Parang masak lemak, Daging masak kicap, sambal tumis, rendang, sayur..plus kuih bakar Melaka...sedappp!! Balik Bangi kejap sambung kuih order, pastu gi Shah Alam semula for Mak Ngah's open house....come to think of it, this raya eve tak sibuk kat dapur since Nenek and family dah siap tempah juadah. For a change rasa relax sikit. But then kena gak masak for the open house hari tu. Family night simple jer as usual, Ayam masak gulai daun kesom, rojak, daging bistek...and buat beef stew and soto ayam for that Sunday. Suka tengok kawan2 Afar makan.

Lepas ni kena cari open houses jer la...Btw, now I'm back kat kedai. I know Ayh Teh bukak kedai awal...dia nak keja dia punya pasal...Mjang nak rehat dulu coz I know, dah 4 kali raya ni...load memang banyak gila. In fact ironing pun kita orang terpaksa sub luar. Sib baik ada kawan yang bantu...tak larat wooo, everyday kat 800 pieces yang masuk... we can do so much jer especially dengan dry cleaning punya ironing lagi. Rezeki Alhamdulillah, and I'm very thankful ada workers yang sanggup kerja dengan baik though melayan kerenah customers tak semuanya mudah. Raya load memang seasonal. Letih tak terkata...selagi syawal tak habis, selagi tu baju2 akan tetap menimbun. Since kita pun dah anticipate tahap busy nya...so kenalah work accordingly.

Oleh kerana sekarang ni sentiasa kat kedai, I do miss spending time online...I miss friends and family members punya Birthday...So, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY ya!...Bila lah orang Telekom ni nak datang? Kata lepas raya nak datang, dah nak abis raya dah ni.

Terlupa..perkara yang tak dapat dilupakan masa raya...spending time dengan family Nenek in Kelang...makan best! spending time dengan Tok Mak & Tok Bak in Medoi...Tok Mak punya nasi goreng...THE BOMB!!! Dapat makan menu2 baru, dia orang goreng mee hoon campur dengan daun pucuk (cekur) manis...sedap and tasty! Then makan Biryani Udang kat rumah Kak Neng...another great dish!...dapat spend time with family members..tengok Lisya and Harris yang seronok beraya siap main bunga api lagi. Though badan letih tapi memang seronok! Syukur sebab masih dapat berjumpa dengan ahli keluarga yang lain, walau ada yang uzur, tapi masih berkesempatan dapat menziarahi mereka...syukur kerana masih dapat menikmati juadah yang lazat2...syukur kerana diberikan kesihatan yang baik...syukur kerana dapat beraya dengan aman.
